So I got a PSP...

Post by Twilight Wolf »

About this time last year, I thought it might be fun to buy myself a used PSP and put custom firmware on it so I could play PlayStation games wherever I wanted. However, after many attempts to buy one and failing each time due to a lack of funds, I gave it up. Until now, of course; Palmer revived my idea of getting a PSP, so after some eBay searching for a few weeks, I finally won one a few days ago (a Phat for those of you interested), and it arrived today. It appears to be bricked; however, the inclusion of two UMD-based games leads me to believe it was working fine before it happened, and once the stuff I ordered from DealExtreme arrives, I can unbrick it and find out for myself whether the UMDs will work or not.

So for the PSP owners out there, can you guys recommend any games? The games I got were "Twisted Metal: Head-On" and "X-Men Legends II," and I plan on picking up "Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters" tomorrow if I can (not gonna open it until I find out whether my PSP can play it or not, though; if it can't, I can just return it, and if it can, I have another game).

When I had mine (I want another one, it was quite an amazing device), I played Patapon on it a lot. It's a neat little rhythm game. I also had GTA and Loco Roco. I highly recommend putting PSP games on it. It can play them at near full speed.

"Patapon" looked like fun, so it's nice to have some confirmation on that one. I'll probably pick that one up.

Any of the Burnout games = EPIC WIN

Also, God of War, LocoRoco, Flow, Echochrome, both Wipeouts, and Ridge Racer (I really like racing games :D )

Another vote for "Patapon" and two more for "LocoRoco," then.

I have "echochrome" for my PS3, and I love it, so I'll probably end up getting it for my PSP, as well, and the original "Ridge Racer" is actually one of the PS1 games I intend to put on my PSP.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys, I'll be sure to look into them!

Sid Meier's Pirates
Megaman Maverick Hunter X (PSP remake of Megaman X)

Two remakes I've wasted days on.

Holy crap, I think my PSP would combust if I tried to play that song... Looks like a fun game, though, so I'll definitely check it out.

Also, my cousin was playing a "Grand Theft Auto" game on his friend's borrowed PSP, and he really liked it, and since you guys recommend it, that's another one I'll look into. I've also heard nothing but good stuff about "Medal of Honor" and "God of War," so those are on my list of games to look up. As for "Megaman," I never really played the series, but I suppose there's no time like the present (or future, more like, as I don't know how long it'll take for the stuff I ordered from DealExtreme to arrive).

Thanks once again for the suggestions, guys.
