N64p W.I.P

Hi, i decided a few days ago that i wanted to play some of my old N64 games
but as i was unable to (since i lost my power adapter) i ended up opening
it up and relocating the cart slot. The other day i ordered a PTH08000 from
T.I ( the PTH08080 wasn't in stock) to solve my power supply problem.

Here are some pictures to show what I've done.

After soldering 50 wires (I think its 50) to the motherboard
and accidentally tearing off the power plug i have this.


Hopefully in the near future when i get my hands on some money
i probably will finish this.

Q. Does the N64 need the 2 components where the power plug is?

Q. Can someone tell me if i soldered the cart slot in the right place?

Update : I just found out that the PTH08000 i ordered didn't get delivered to me but to someone else

It looks like the power goes onto both sides of the board. Pin 6 (12v line) needs to connect to the +12v> line on the bottom of the board and also the top of the board to the capacitor (top connection) on the right; the 3.3v line to the left capacitor (on the top) and the underside of the board to the +3.3v> line.

You snapped off the voltage in lines, so you need to wire to the connections they have to connect to; that is what I suggested.

ok i got my regulator today but ran into a slight
problem when i wired up the capacitor and resistor to
the PTH08000. It went up in smoke when i plugged it into my
7.4v battery.

heres what i used:
- 100uf 50v capacitor
- 2k ohm resistor
- PTH08000 regulator

any ideas what went wrong?

Those are the right parts - did you wire it correctly? Input voltage goes to pin 3, output from pin 6, ground on pin 1, resistor between pins 1 and 5, 100uF cap between pin 3 and 1 (make sure your polarity is correct for your cap!)

yes i wired it up just like bacterias diagram on his site.
i just ordered another regulator and if that smokes
then something is definitely wrong

Diagrams you mention on my site were by Skyone. Many of us have used his diagram to wire the regulators, successfully.

oh my bad i thought they were yours.
anyways if the next one smokes then im doing something wrong

i'll post pics when i receive and wire up the regulator to make sure....

ok i have had success and the regulator i got today
didn't go up in smoke when i tested it and my N64 works!

Here is the system:


until i get some batteries and a screen i am using
a Gamecube power supply to power it.
But i also came into a slight problem,
the quality of the games is not as it should be
(fuzzy and brighter)
any ideas on how i can resolve this??

Is it an Intec screen, especially a gamecube one?
