I'm pondering the idea of turning my GP2X into a tabletop unit, along the lines of a Chumby. The design requires use of an external controller in place of the face buttons, for which a SNES controller is ideal. This would involve wiring from the GP2X PCB back to a custom controller port, and of course modding the SNES controller with a matching cable and plug.
I'd really like to make it wireless though. I'm thinking along the lines of 12 digital I/O channels, which is a little clunky but keeps things simple (12 wired inputs at the Tx end, 12 wired outputs at the Rx end).
I know such things do exist, but for the most part they're on another planet as far as my requirements go:

This one is getting closer:

...but IR and electromechanical relays are not really suitable.
Surely something compact, low powered and with solid state outputs must exist somewhere in the world. Does anyone know of such a thing?
Rudimentary wireless gamepad conversion. Advice?
