A reason why you might not want a psp right away.

Post by xxxeagle »

Although I love playstation and all and want a psp real bad i just thought of something. Does anyone know about sony's mini disc player? well the older models cant play some of the newer mini discs (not sure why) but if the umd is anything like the md it will have newer versions made later which will require you to geta newer more up to date psp to play them now im not sure if this is tue with the psp but if it is then you'll have to get a new psp or a upgrade for the one you have later on down the road to play new games assuming that sony makes bigger games and umds for the psp. Tell me what you think.

If this is really justable how you cant use the UMDs in your MD player, its been covered. Firstly the UMDs use a higher comprsion then standard MDs, you can make a change to the MDs to have this higher comprsion but it will not be as high as the new discs.

Think of it like the Zip disks. The Zip 100 can be read and written on by a 250 but a 250 disk cant be read or written on by a 100 drive. You need the proper headers to read the disc and you need to have the software to translate the compresses info.

I'm sure Sony will release a new player that supports the new UMDs, it might even be the PS3 who knows.

Guys I have $250.

My best buy probably has PSPs in stock.

I want one but my mom is PMSing.

And she will probably blow up in my face if I ask.

My DS has two dead pixels.

I really don't care, it doesn't annoy me.

Lol, no, it stands for Console Edition (i think), maybe they should make Windows FB Edition, exactly the same as ME, I can't tell you what FB stands for here, its too dangerous and I don't want to be banned, may I post it?

[Q:] What does "CE" stand for?
[A:] The official answer is "nothing". The most common "fake" term is "compact edition", but this was never officially stated by Microsoft. The media has made up several names for it, everything from "compact edition" to "consumer edition", to "consumer electronics". When CE was first announced years ago, I believe Bill Gates referred to it using several terms like "consumer, compact", etc.

The Microsoft Corporation first released their scaled down version of Windows 95, Windows CE (some say this stands for "Compact Edition" or "Consumer Electronics" although Microsoft dispute this) Version 1 in the November of 1996. It was designed to be user friendly, easy to use and familiar (To users of Windows 95 anyway).

http://www.answers.com/topic/windows-ce

Microsoft has stated that the "CE" is not an intentional acronym, but many people believe CE stands for "Consumer Electronics" or "Compact Edition". The first version, known during development under the codename "Pegasus", featured a Windows-like GUI and a number of Microsoft's popular applications, all trimmed down for smaller storage, memory, and speed of the palmtops of the day.

Ever think of this? Windows ME= Millenium Edition CE= Crap Edition NT=Network Terminal? so CE + ME + NT = CEMENT, which is what Bill Gates' new shoes should be! :)
