Yep, Obama had 52.9%, McCain had 45.7%.

Most of the people here couldn't vote, so they aren't bashing Obama because the person they voted for didn't win. They just don't want the US to get f'd up, which, in their opinion, is what Obama will do.

The man I voted for didn't win either. and I think he lost by about 52% of the popular vote.

When he starts doing all his liberal crap there's sure to be some assassination attempts.
A welcome thread for the new president turned into

" Im bitter and pissy my pick did not win so I want you all to know"
How about a thread of sheeple looking forward to Obama bringing change to this country turned into
"I don't like the changes Obama wants to make because they go against the freedoms that this country was founded on"

There was none, but he and his wife both WALKED the streets in a procession in the free open and nothing happened.

Yes, he voted for it. Unfortunately, so did most of congress and most of the candidates. Ron Paul was the only candidate who would have actually been a good president, though McCain is still better than Obama.

Hhm, personally I think that we should adhere to the forum's policy about not discussing politics. It inevitably ends up nasty. I don't think this is the right outlet for it, you know?

Did anyone else actually go to the big show?

Let's hear some stories!

I slept at a friends house on Monday night.
Got up at 3:30, off to the Metro.
The train was packed, everyone was singing and everyone was happy.
It was a total mobscene. When we got our spot on the Mall, it was 5:30.
FREEZING.
We stood for 9 hours, until after Obama's speech.
Cheney was in a wheelchair, I cheered.
When people clapped, it sounded like thunder. Or planes taking off. That kind of thing.

After the whole thing ended, the Metros had 5 hour waits, so I walked the 2 hours back to the car with my family.

It was AWESOME.
I got home after the 6 hour drive at like 11, and now I'm exhausted.

Im kinda glad Obama won, but for me its more im glad McCain didnt. As with politics you're always picking the least worst candidate rather than the best

Being a UK resident Obama wont really affect me, Im just glad to see an end to Republican foreign policy.

Really good doctors have little incentive to make a good name for themselves, and research in the medical field dwindles because it is no longer a free market. It may not seem like a bad thing, but it really hurts the people that have more difficult diseases and injuries.
Maybe the incentive should be saving lives and generally improving the quality of life of all?

Universal Health Care is great idea, speaking as someone who lives with it. Ive broken bones, dislocated my shoulder, been for brains scans and such that my family or I couldnt really afforded to pay for.

I guess you guys in the US have a different outlook on it, but i just feel free healthcare shold be regarded in the same rank and free education. But thats just way i see things i guess

I come from spain, we have universal health care and its great. Its much more fair because in that way EVERYONE can access a doctor which should be a right. And if you get an unexpected disease that will cost you a lot of money I can assure you you will be greatfull. If not, my uncle would have probably died of cancer.

I would've voted for Paul if he ran Independent, but he dropped out.
