I don't think he mentioned putting peroxide on the console.palmertech wrote: I think the plastic is an awesome idea, but DON'T put peroxide/bleach on it. Some vintage console forums say it is a good way to remove yellowing/aging and restore to original finish, but it makes it more brittle. Okay for normal consoles, not good for portables.

I know, but him saying "peroxide" reminded me to warn him just in case.XCVG wrote:I don't think he mentioned putting peroxide on the console.palmertech wrote: I think the plastic is an awesome idea, but DON'T put peroxide/bleach on it. BIG MONSTER UPDATE! I've been working nonstop on the case, and I've gotten very far. Last you saw I had just cut out the back piece of plastic. Well, take a look at this:

I've got the headphone jack, cart slot cover, and the R button hole cut out. But that's just on the outside. I also relocated the cartridge slot, mounted the cart slot, cut down the N64 board, and installed screwposts for the N64 board. Since pictures say oh-so much more than words, here are a few for you. (Watch out, there's a lot)

Yaaaaay! ^_^ Comments/questions?

Thanks for the great comments.
I forgot to mention that I tested the N64, works great, the cart booted the first time, because I was very careful with the relocation. I kept the wires neat so they are thinner, and it worked great.
Funny thing about this portable is that I haven't spent one cent on the case yet. I got the gray transparent helf from a relative, the back plastic from an NES, and the cart cover from one of those wireless security things you would mount around your house. Obviously 90's because of the beige.
Kind of ramdom, but here are the costs so far:
Case: Free
Battery: $30
N64: $20
Controller: $5
3.3v Converter, Heatsinks, Tact Switches, and Fan: $40
Misc. $10
Bringing the grand total to only $105!
It really pays to be a packrat!

Nay. I like it better grey. Got any other colors? A deep green or blue might be cool. Orange is kinda weird.
All power to you though, it IS your portable!

I had orange Krylon Fusion, I just wanted to use so I wouldn't have to buy any more!
But I really shouldn't do that, we don't want it to look bad because I'm cheap.
I didn't exactly think orange would look that nice either.
What kind of gray were you thinking of SS? All the pieces of plastic are different colors, so it'll have to be painted somehow.
I don't want to do blue because collinE is already using it, also I want kind of a bright color. Like the sky blue on the inside castle walls in SM64!
