X360 hard drive question

I've been looking around quite a bit, and go to wondering, is it possible to connect a hard drive to the motherboard without actually having the connections provided by buying a Microsoft hard drive?

My inclination says yes, but I'm just looking for some confirmation, and maybe some pointers.

Yes, but you would need to wire it by hand. Good luck removing it after that.
