Okay, my batteries came.
I'll open them soon to see if there's a circuit or not.
I think there is.

i hope i am not dredging up an old topic, but i think you guys need a little clarification. these are lipos meant for RC and so they do not have a protection circuit integrated. the smaller connector is meant for balancing the cells. i have been doing some research the past few days on this and have a similar battery pack. once i have got the charging thing figured out, (connecting a similar charger to the one posted), i will post how i incorporated this in to my portable.

So basically, you still need a charging circuit.
All you need to do is strip these down to the cells, and wire them up like you would normally?

i think you could strip down the cells, but what i don't get is how you guys are charging them.

the balancing connection is wired to each cell, which requires a balancing charger to make sure that each cell is charged correctly. if you guys have a simple circuit you are using to accomplish this, i would like to see it. i plan on using a DC>DC balancing charger. i have been trying to figure out if i could just get away with installing a protection curcuit with a built-in balancer on the battery and wire it in parallel to the power supply in order to charge it and power the portable, but i am thinking that is going to be less likely.

There are charging circuits you can buy from batteryspace.com that do the whole thing.

Please tell us if you do that successfully! I'm not sure if I'm gonna buy these batteries and it would be ggod to know that they work with battery spaces charging circuit

Yes guys they will work. You just need the charging circuit linked to on page 1 of this thread and then a charger also linked on the first page.

please correct me if i am wrong, but i do not think you need to buy a separate protection circuit. the charger itself has the protection circuit built in to it. you are supposed to hook up the balancing connector to it and it is supposed to take care of maintaining each cell and bringing them up to the correct voltage.

im just saying that you need to leave all the wires intact. it will be important for connecting the charger.

No circuitry at all.
It's just a piece of PCB with a chunk of solder for a ground, looks like.

I have a charger that is like that, but aluminum, and says "Balance charger".

Can I hook that up to the battery pack via those three wires, hook 12v into the charger, and it will charge them without problems? I would love it if you have confirmation, hammer.

thats the one i ordered for a 11.1v lipo pack (3s, so it will use the 3 cell slot) that i have. im going to power it off a wii power supply (12v) and see how that goes. they say it is a decent, albeit slow, little charger over at rcgroups, so i am thinking it should be fine for this application.
