Xbox 360 Laptop, first project

Post by guitarman_715 »

Hey guys, Im new to the site and this is my first project. Its an xbox 360 laptop with 19" widescreen 1080i monitor. This project is nowhere near done but I have come pretty far. While no project of mine will ever be the quality of benheck himself, let me know what you guys think.

What has been done:

-17.5"X12.5" Case constructed of plexiglass, 1.5" tall, 3" tall with monitor

-19" Emachines widescreen HD 1080i monitor connect with a HDMI to DVI cables, monitor hinged with 2 McCaster friction hinges

-Modified heatsinks, two original xbox fans, laptop blower fan added and two more to be installed to keep from overheating

-Extended DVD power cable and longer Sata cable added

-Ring of light board wired with IDE ribbon cable and plug soldered so that the board is detachable from the IDE cables

-Memory card ports accessible

What I still got left to do:

- wire hard drive in

-wire usb ports

- wire wifi adapter

-install keyboard

-install 2 more fans for heat sinks

-paint and do some body work on the casing, and install some cool LED lights

-Dress the monitor

-Install power button, rca ports, ect.

And now for the pics:

Thanks guys, and I was thinking about putting the board in there but it is very bulky, don't think I have enough room for it. 19" lcd boards are a lot bigger than 17in lcd boards.

Hats off to you

Also, I have a keyboard that is small like ben uses so it should fit.
Also, I didnt see too many vents for air :?

I already got a mini usb keyboard from tigerdirect.com, moddified it and its ready to go in on monday. I do need to make more vent holes but am waiting until I get all the fans that I will have in the case to see where the best place to put vent holes for maximum airflow will be. This has been a tough project but I am at the stages now were it is paying off.

Is it possible to put the LCD components in the bottom case so they don't stick out like that?

Thanks. How much do you guys think I could get for this thing when its done? Just an idea because I know you really won't know until you see the final product which is gona be 100% better than what I have now, keep in mind it will have the elite 120gb hard drive and wireless wi fi adapter.
