The Xbox only has 64 MB of RAM, which is shared between the CPU and GPU, so no there's no way you can do that.

you can boot without the dvd drive only if you have a modchip or if you flash the TOSP chip with cheapmods based chip bios. (i use the x2 4981.06 bios)
to flash the tosp all you need is solder skills and a way to put files from your computer to your xbox. search google or xbox-scene and you should find some easy guides for this.
also you would need to find a copy/iso of slayers boot disk to install evox as the main dashboard which has ftp capabilities. slayers disk also has options to replace the hard drive which can be swapped for a 2.5" laptop drive which can sit nicely between the ide connector and the gpu heatsink.
although you cant stream games your xbox, you can store the whole game in iso form on the harddrive as long as your xbox is modded (either soft or hard) you can find guides on using your xbox dvd drive to ftp the game from your xbox to your pc and create an iso

You need the pinout for that version of XBox, some wire, and an ATX power socket. Try the xbox-scene forums for pinouts of the power supply for that version, and match up the pinouts to the atx standard(a quick search should turn it up).ME225 wrote:ok I keep getting farther and farther on this project but I realized the psu is Hella huge. I read something about getting a pico psu but you needed an atx converter but that was for versions 1.0-1.5 and I am using a 1.6 what do I need to do this
It'd be much more expensive than if you got the pico. Sorry.ME225 wrote:does anyone know how to make a cheap but small psu i cant afforde the pico psu right now
As for the CF card, you can just get a converter for those. Just search ebay for "HDD to CF"

I would recommend getting a new xbox as the 1.6 doesn't softmod well and that means that you can't get isos on your hard drive (ya, ya, it sucks, i know) this would also help you with your psu problem
that might help.
