Help with Sega 32X
Hey guys I have a sega 32X that Ive had 4 years and never really tried out until today. I've never been able to find the cable to hook it up from the genesis to 32X so I took two rca cables for a genesis and coupled em together (someone here told me I could do that). Anyway when I pluged it all up and had a cartridge in it the screen has like really fast and had diagonal lines running along it. I was wondering if anybody had an idea of what may be the problem? I checked the cords over and over again and cant find a problem. Can post pics if it helps

To use the Sega 32X, you can't use two coupled AV cables. As ssnik992 said, the Genesis RGB video output is mixed/combined with the Sega 32X Video and then output from the 32X. Now that's not to say nothing will happen...
Basically if you do this you might get just the 32X output, maybe... But that would assume the 32X output has a video sync, so I'm not really sure. But if you want your 32X to properly work, you need an RGB loop cable. You need to pass the analog RGB video from the Genesis to the 32X. That means connecting Red, Green, Blue, and Sync from the AV connector. Now, if you want to ghetto rig it, get some wire, cut and strip the ends, and put each wire, carefully, into the right holes in the AV ports. This will work. I have done this myself.
But this is VERY important before you do ANYTHING, you should realize if you connect the wrong points you could damage your hardware. The AV port has +5 volts. If you connect this to the wrong place you could permanently damage your hardware.
What you should do is just try to find the 32X loop cable online and just bite the bullet and pay for it. Otherwise you need to order the right type of DIN connector and make your own cable.
If you wanted to get really creative though, you could get two Sega RGB SCART cables (common in Europe) and couple those together. That should work. The reason being that you'd bridge the RGB signals between both units.
Also now that I think about it, I've pretty sure the only way you will get video out of the 32X you must bring the Genesis Video Sync signal to the 32X AV input port. Without this it will never sync. Before you do anything you might want to actually think about if you really want to play any 32X games. The list is short.
