CTFan's GBC Mod of Boredom!

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

Well, my friend gave me this GBC to mess around with, partly because the power indicator never did work, and partly because he's got like 6 of them. So, I had some down-time, so I cracked 'er open and found there was a cold solder joint. I also remembered that I had about 1/4 a can left of red Krylon Fusion (did they even make a red GBC besides those limited edition Tokyo ones and the Mann. U one? I don't think so...) and a box of assorted mini colored LEDs. :P 15 minutes later...

Still no battery door, but eh.

It was either yellow or green, I think I made the right choice!

So there you go. Not at all difficult or time consuming, but worth sharing, I guess. Enjoy!

Red.

You replaced an Led and made it red? Sweet. No, take a crystal from one of those ugly failures you tried to make(I kid) and over clock it on a switch.

Overclocking a gbc = best mod evah. See mah youtube channel for a video of an overclocked gbc.

I think SS is right. Red = hot rod = faster!

Nice paint job, CTFan.

No it's not, I do believe the best GBC mod in my mind would be the ProSound mod, which is conveniently being done right now. Overclocking is kinda... pointless, IMO. Pokemon, you say? Meh, I reply. :P

Nice! Red is good. :D
I overclocked my NES to see just exactly what it would do. What a waste! Now my IR indicator is used for nothing!

If you need more info, just look around in the handheld forum.

you krylon fusioned that? honestly the paint job looks...tacky? I tohght krylon goes right through the plastic and gives off much better paint jobs then that...or did you apply heavy coats of paint on? If you did heavy coats then that's why it looks like that...

I like the colour and everything..but it just doesn't look right... sorry...:(

Nah, multiple thin coats. It couldn't have been too thick, as the can was running on E from the start of the project. It was glossy, if that makes any difference. Besides, it's not as if the paint fuses with the plastic instantaneously, these photos were taken only an hour after the paint was laid. Now, of course, it's much more set.
