Politicians vote for themselves. Having and open ballet won't do anything. Plus I dont think theres a voting system already installed on these forums like that. I bet we can get one tho.
open ballot prevents ninja voting. If you can keep track of who voted for what then there's not way it can be tampered with.
True. Very true. I've seen ninja voting become a huge problem before. I say let it be open ballot.

I really don't like open ballots. They make me uncomfortable. Not that I'm planning any mischievous voting, but I think we'll get a larger number of votes if it's anonymous and that will better reflect the preferences of the forum's population.

well, than maybe one selected mod should be the tallier of the votes. we all send him a pm with our rating for each one. then that's a more fair voting system with all the secretness as a normal vote gives.
they call me the Queen of Bondo, though maybe i should be called the Queen of Epoxy Putty

Update: controls work! Replacing the IC fixed the problem. Finishing up some details like headphone jack and then all is done!

Interesting comments on the thoughts about voting. No single method is remotely perfect, all have major flaws. Issues as I see them:

i) Single voting - you will vote for yourself - as some have already stated. Anyway, there may well be more than one system as awesome as another - then what?

ii) Open ballot - I take LOB's point, however as long as people vote on the system and honestly, then that is fine. It is only opinions after all. It will also then be obvious if individuals are voting fairly or playing the system.

iii) Secret ballot - fine in principle but cannot be impartial.

Ok, how about this then: open ballot, so no devious voting; you can't vote for your own system that way too; each member selects their top five systems, that gives points, 1-5, which added up decide the winner.

I think the original idea of no prize but a different forum title is preferable and will give a far better playing field, as the "prize" is not financial then; although the generousity of hailrazer for coming up with prizes is certainly appreciated.

So 5 points for being picked first, 4 for 2nd, and ect..., 1 point for 5th on someone's lists?
