Well, because I feel that it hasnt been stated, my entry is finished, I COULD just touch up the case a bit. So, what I submitted on the project page is completely valid, built within the time frame, and meets every rule to standard!

So yeah, I dont think I will win, but I do think that I deserve a fair chance. After all it is a complete unit.

I just read your work log - that's pretty clever putting the switches in the cartridge slot so you don't have to manually choose between the two. I assume they're some sort of lever switch?

@Lovablechevy: I am using bondo. Lots and lots of bondo. I don't know if I can match your incredible standard, though.

Yep a lever switch.

To save on the thickness.

Well you don't have to build a cover for the cart if its gonna be parallel, do you?

I'm not using any bondo or filler at all in my project, ignoring hot glue in my last post (which is great to fill larger gaps)!

In regards to voting, rather than just one vote per member I think it would make more sense to have a voting system for EACH portable made, say 1-5 for each one, 1=poor, 2="functional", 3=good but not great, 4=very nice but not top vote, 5=awesome/excellent. That means you don't need to only choose one system from one member, especially as I am sure there may be a couple/few systems as highly rated as each other (how else can you choose between them). Seems the fairest way - otherwise you might only be able to choose one vote between two or three favourites even though all of them are as good as each other. This is especially relevant when some systems may look georgeous but of a tired theme vs an innovative system.

Having votes visible also means you can't vote for your own system!! Probably a good idea to also only allow members who joined before 20 July to vote, as this will make it harder for people to set up dummy accounts in order to vote multiple times - unfair.

Other view of course is to keep all votes transparent from others to see and the assumption that you will also vote for your system along with everyone else's system too (same result after all).

This might be the fairest way to count votes, the top 10 portables can be listed in order at the end of the compo along with their score and it makes it easy then to see who won!

Dragonball345 - you know that - compo ends 31st August. That is the deadline.

Politicians vote for themselves. Having and open ballet won't do anything. Plus I dont think theres a voting system already installed on these forums like that. I bet we can get one tho.

The only problem with that, is what if those who made systems go and vote 1 on every other system. Or mean spirited people vote 1 on people they don't like.

If you just vote for the system you like the best then it avoids that problem.

Just my 2 cents :)

I agree and i think were all old enough to not vote just for our own systems. If for instance everyone elses system and you must vote for yourselves go for it but most people can be trustworthy its just a prize. Should have everyone actually post saying who they voted for and like a sentence why then we can see of everything adds up later. And can weed out like the 1 post voters.

i think this is a great idea. we don't have to have it as a "poll." those who want to vote simply post their ratings of each system.
they call me the Queen of Bondo, though maybe i should be called the Queen of Epoxy Putty

open ballot prevents ninja voting. If you can keep track of who voted for what then there's not way it can be tampered with.
