I have been dabating white or black for my N64p... Unfortunately, black is my first choice, if only because it does not show smudges as much.

The L64 is awesome, but the size in ENOURMOUS! I have a question, though: If I make an N64p that is about 1/4 inch thicker than this, WITH internal batteries... Do I get a sticky?

Boy you sure do talk a lot. Let's see a portable first, then you can worry about stickies.

P.s. The ones that are stickied are the ones that do something new and interesting, and being 1/4 thinner than Marshallh's isn't that new.

Note the  in my post.

I was just kidding around, sure I would love a sticky to one of my projects, but honestly, I do not think mine deserves it. And yes, I do talk a lot.

Congrats on getting the sticky! This is a very cool n64p, probably my favorite one. One question though: Are some games hard to play with the new button layout? Some games assumed that those buttons were easy to reach quickly with one finger, so it is worth asking.

Enourmous? You can't be serious!!?? The L64 is probably the smallest N64p after this one. Remember, as well as internal batteries, it contains all 4 controller ports, A/V out and the cart slot is fully integrated into the shell.

It's interesting that you should ask that. The R and Z button placement feels completely natural and the L button is also easy to reach (it's directly under the R button). But... the fact that the A and B buttons have dropped down slightly, make Goldeneye speedruns almost impossible! I can never find B in time to open doors!

I don't know....http://www.engadget.com/media/2006/06/l64.jpg
To me, that looks like it is a good bit thicker than an actual N64, as well as much wider. ShockSlayer has made some awesome N64Ps, his ZN40 0ne is uber-small. I think that the L64 has nice shape, but seriously, it is pretty huge.

HAY! I haz an idear!

Ok... So we spend a good bit of time on documenting the size, shape, and such of all the portables here... How about we make a big picture with all the N64Ps ever made, and lay them out side by side (To scale, with a grid paper overlay). For most of them, we can get a common reference point from the 5" screen, and the rest we would just have to figure out by hand. Any thoughts on this idea?

That pic of the L64 does make it look fat. Holding up the L64's case shell up to my N64 shows that they're about the same.

The main reason it was so thick was because the expansion pak was not relocated, and the battery pack was integrated.

Although I do like the sleek all-black look of this new portable, I think SifuF's first one took the aesthetic design cake :) I actually like the white body with black screen window.

Is that the same as the N64 main body, or including the little bump?

Yay! You made mah day! Let me tell you something, If you were impressed with my last one, you will be amazed at the one I have for the contest! I've already got the entire unit finished now(amazing what you can do with 30 minutes), just making it look nice before I release it.

Oh, and as much as it deserves it, it is not eligible for the contest:

 Too bad. In any case, this just means that I need to make sure that my entry is as awesome as yours, I literally represent n64 portables(at least here, marshallh can have the rest of the internet).

ShockSlayer is the ultimate authority on n64 portables. and If his 6th one is better than his fifth he should have no problem getting first prize in the portable contest

 Well, you have a great pair of eagle eyes for spotting it BUT... It's not quite an iphone (It's made of cardboard!).

I agree, SS' N64's are great. The SS64 (One of my favorite N64p's)appears to be very compact and solid in construction, but most importantly, It just looks so playable.

ShockSlayer, I know you love hot glue, but is there any chance that you could you use just a little less in portable no. 6?!! :D

Like I siad, I'm anxious to surprise everyone with this one, you CANT see any hotglue if its not open!

And, I'm surprised that my 5th is actually liked! To everyone who like it, imagine it again, but incredibly beautiful, simple, and even more comfortable to hold! My 5th was the basic, the 6th fixes all remaining flaws. Now if I could only get my hands on a gamecube.

Sorry for sidetracking the thread, nice to know that someone who I admire admires me(somewhat! :P)
