At this point it will be infinitely more profitable to ask the people at xbox scene. I have never had a softmod go wrong so I don't anything about fixing one...
Just thought for a moment and realised that to mod your xbox with the ndure exploit you have to create an eeprom backup or it won't do the mod. I think in later versions it will even do this step automatically. If you copied the back up made by the softmod to an external source then it should contain a copy of the eeprom.

No need to apologise to us your the one forking over the cash. Next time you use a softmod installer you have an option to copy the backup to your action replay or whatever you are using to softmod the xbox. An alternative is to backup both the eeprom and C drive then ftp to your xbox before you install the softmod and copy the backup folder.
Well, i dont think its posible to use a laptop DVD drive unless you have programing language and firmware flashing skills. You see, xbox uses a special format for the hard drive called FATX, wich is a modified version of FAT32 (i think it was, could be 16 too). The DVD's are burned in that FATX way too. FATX cant be used in windows, nor the DVD's of an xbox game can be read within a normal dvd drive. Naturaly because the firmware doesnt support the FATX format. However, it is posible to use another HD (not sure if laptop ones are supported). But be carefull, not all Hard Drives work, especialy the older, and cheaper models. You need a hard drive that can be lockable, because the normal state of a xbox harddrive is locked. It unlocks for a sec or 4 when the xbox logo apears, so you need to hotswap the original one to your computer running a special type of linux so you can copy it over.
For a laptop drive you also need a 2.5" to 3.5" converter. Ebay sells them cheap as hell.
Anyways, its too complicated to explain it all in one post, but you should be able to find tons of tutorials on xbox-scene.com

With a modded xbox, you can use pretty much any USB drive. You just have to make a USB to xbox adapter. Here is one guide, there are countless others on google.Hackmodford wrote:Guys I need some help. I was wondering if it was possible to transfer files to my xbox via a usb thumbdrive. I know this is a question for the XboxScene Forums but I feel more comfortable here.
I chopped a breakaway cable in half and a USB extension cable in half. Then you just wire the wires to the others of the same color (yellow is unused). Make sure you have the right connectors connected to each other. You'll end up with a way to plug the controller into the xbox, a USB cable device into the xbox, or the controller into a PC.
