Question about GC CPU temp?

Post by techknott »

Does anyone know what the optimal temperature for the CPU is with heatsink and fan attached originally?

Ive completely dismantled mine now and have no idea what to aim for whilst building a custom one. At a guess id say about 50'c, is this about right??

Thanks

Depends entirely what the processor is.

For example, something like a moderately fast dual-core 65nm Intel chip dissipates far less than its 65w rating (probably closer to 20 something) at idle. It wouldn't be very ambitions to aim for 50 degrees, if you had some massive aftermaket type cooler on there.

Something like a quad core Expensive Edition, or a 90nm Prescott P4 might be running a little hotter (lol)

So you are building your own? Will it have heat pipes? 8)

He's talking about the Nintendo Gamecube, hence the forum he posted this in and his topic title...
