Lifespan of the flourescent tube in a PSone screen?
Curious as to how many hours the light works for in an unmodded PSone screen on average, before it dies?

The datasheet for the screen module (LCD + backlight) says 10000 hours minimum (note that's 10k hours before it drops below 50% brightness), but that's based on ideal operating conditions and in reality it may not actually last that long. It depends on the driving circuitry used on the control board, the operating temperature, how often you cycle power, etc. Assuming there is nothing wrong with the bulb or the driver though, you can probably still expect it to last close enough to that rating that it doesn't make a difference.

Wait, did you ever led mod you pso screen? If thats the case, then dont worry. Your portables batteries will die before your cathode tube.

No, I don't LED my PSone screens, personally I prefer a uniformed screen brightness rather than being brighter at the edges and duller in the middle.
That is fine guys, anything approaching 10k hours is fantastic. I was concerned the tubes would die too quickly as they are small; after all in the PSone manual it does mention they can die.
