Sorry, but I'm with Samus on this one. My parents did the same thing to me that your mom's doing now, and a few short years later, I desperately needed a new flute if I wanted to continue playing. Since my parents refused to let me blow it all on a game system, I was able to get that flute with no problems. My siblings and I were each able to afford our own first cars, since our parents made us save. That meant we couldn't get grounded from our cars because our parents didn't own them.

Seriously. If you spend that money now, what happens when you want to buy a car? $500 will just barely get you a junker you might be able to fight a year out of. Much as it sucks now, it IS something you'll thank your parents for later.

There's also an ending to the flute story... because when I was younger, and I learned to save my money, I proved I was responsible. When I moved out, and paying the bills made it hard to save up for an even better flute, my parents bought me the $5000 flute because they knew I could appreciate the money that went into it.

Hotdog, think about it. Is a PS3 something you desperately need, or just something you want? You already have a perfectly good laptop. In the next few years, the money will be more worthwhile to have around.

But is paying $5000 for a flute any better than spending $500 on a PS3? :P

Maybe if he absolute couldn't do without it and could lose a job or something over it, than I could see that, and I wouldn't doubt he already had a Flute in the first place so it wasn't like he didn't have one, but really what makes it worth $5000?

Look at it this way: the flute won't be obsolete on 6 years. :P

Whos says 6 years, the PS2 has gone for 7 years, and most likely 8 years, Ps2 had a way slower processor than PCs in 2001 and is still going strong here in 2008.

PS3 has a more powerful processer than MOST computer nowadays and if it has the same momentum as the PS2, it will be around as long as the PS2 has if not longer, plus Blu-ray probably isn't going anywhere in 6 years, plus DVD has been around for 9 years, if Blu-ray takes over, it will last at least that long and would still be a usable Blu-ray player if the PS3 flops cause of bad games :P

*facepalm* I was being facetious.

Seriously HDC, if you don't really need it, and judging from your posts it's not a priority, you're better off saving your money.

Yeah saving money is a good idea, but it is really his money, so it is his choice.

Unless it gets stolen, or destroyed in a house fire, it's the last flute I'll ever own. It'll last me as long as I live, and possibly a few generations after.

He's got a point here. Do you really need it? In the few months I've been a member of this forum, you've had some brilliant ideas, but you seem to change your mind really quickly. Much as I'd like a PS3, I'm really not interested in blowing that much money on one. If you can live without it for a while, the price will come down. If you wait, you could save more money, either in your bank account, or just on your own. Perhaps then, you wouldn't even need your mom's signature to get one. Why don't you think about this more?

Well I want a ps3. The idea's that I post are being worked on. My mom wont let me spend money on computers or game systems. I have a better chance at requesting a ps3 than a cheaper EEEpc and such as my mom just threw away 8 of my old game systems (so I need to fill the void.). Yet I still have a great $2000 laptop, and she doesnt want another laptop in the house.

I have money in a sepreate account for a car and house rent. This money in this bank account is mine for blowing on stuff. It was set up for that. Usually she will just let me buy what I want, but now shes being strict.

I don't get it. I get forced to go up there and let her take MY money to buy stuff (she never pays it back.), but when I want to spend it, she wont let me.

I might as well just give her the money -_-

Where do parents get off throwing our crap away? I don't get that.

Well, seeing as its your money, and she doesn't pay you back....Don't let her use it.

Seems to me like your being used. Maybe I'm wrong, thats just the impression I get.

Wait, she throws your stuff away and spends your money without your consent? And if you did the same thing, you'd get punished beyond all belief?

Technically if it's a joint savings account, she has legal access to the money, but that doesn't make her actions right. Sounds like you need to buy a safe and start getting paid in cash (or cash your paychecks).

You've got some more serious issues than PS3 deprivation. I suggest counseling. ("Dear Abby" doesn't count.) Don't resort to revenge tactics, they only make the situation worse.

No no You guys misunderstood me.

Shes borrowed money off me to fix a car. She hasnt payed it back, and keeps saying "I'll do it when I get cash".

Now, she has money of her own in the account yet $3000 of it is mine. Whenever she needs money, she like forces me to go to the bank with her and sign so she can get her own money out. But when I want some of MY money out, she refuses.

Yeah I know revenge only makes things worse, but I would just start refusing to let her get money out.

I know it won't let you get your money out, but still, what she gonna do, throw you out of the house, she wouldn't be able to collect the tax rebate on you anymore :P

And that is friggin' screwed up, parents throwing away stuff that is not theirs, my dad has never touched my stuff, he has only threatened to throw my game systems away, or smash them :P but that is when I do stupid stuff, then he blames video games, and then threatens to smash or throw them away.

(lol good luck smashing my fat Xbox )
