My washing machine is not working? Help?

Well it kind of works, see you turn it on and when it gets to the spin cycle in trips the fuse. Replaced fuse, still trips it.

Is their any thing that you can thing of that might cause this in the washer that can be easily fixed? I want to fix it so my parents don't have to buy a whole new one.

It is a maytag.

if its blowing fuses when it flips to the spin cycle its probably a short or problem with the motor, call a maytag repair man lol

Can I use mah multimeter to check? =P

Also arent repair men like $100 might as well get a scratch-n-dent washer at home depot.

I see no reason you can check the problem out with the multimeter. You could find the short that way.

And a scratch-n-dent will cost somewhere between $150 to $200. Probly cheaper to call the repair guy. If you can find someone with a decent pricing.

Near the top.

Put 2000v 10A across the input plug, and see were the smoke comes out. Thats the easiest way.

Maybe the washer is so overloaded that when trying to speed stuff up it overheats?Our washer does crap like that too.

Try running it again without load.

Did you get any new appliances, lights, etc. that run on the same fuse as your washing machine?

I don't suggest trying to fix it yourself unless it's completely junked otherwise. (That's the best way to learn, because newbs usually end up breaking things anyways).

At the very least fixing it will give you some practice unscrewing screws. Keep in mind that most things like this run on 240V instead of 120V.

Also, google your problem. You might find a solution that way.

"Bad motor pulley, bad belt can make a sqeuek noise....a tight/literally seizing center bearing might make the washer work hard enough to blow the fuse....would also be a well idea to check the motor carriage & springs as the motor is absurdly suppose to motion back & fourth on this carraige, if dirty or sticky the motor might blow a fuse. "
