RGB to Composite

RGB to Composite
Is there any non expensive way to convert RGB into a component signal with spare parts lying around the house?
Do you need to convert RGB into composite (yellow plug) or component (Red Green and Blue plugs)?
If it's composite you need to convert to, I seem to recall some game consoles (Genesis 1 comes to mind) have a converter chip inside that does just that. You'll need to do some fact checking on that though, as I can't remember the chip. Search for "chroma encoder Genesis" or "chroma encoder Playstation".
If you're wanting to convert RGB to component, you're out of luck. Nothing I've seen has a separate transcoder chip inside (other than transcoder box).
