TKD kicks other than sidekick and variations=lolz.
For round kicks, the muay thai round kick has much more power, and hook kick.. while not completely useless, a use is seldom found. As for twisting kick, just don't make me laugh. <_< As far as the style of tkd, it seems to focus less on relaxing and letting your strikes be heavy, and letting power come, but more on mechanical movement. the kicks are all leg, the punches (what little there are) are all arm, it is just all around flashy and less effective. Now, TKD works wonderfully under TKD rules, but the rules are so impractical. No grabbing is understandable, it is a striking art. (although it wouldn't fly on the street, it is understandable) But no kicking to the legs... that is pretty ridiculous. And no punching to the face just makes it all bad. TKD, in my opinion, is good for flexibility and athleticism, and can supplement martial arts, but in general, just doesn't work.
But for the record, this isn't total bashing. I spar at a TKD school once a week, and it is all a good supplement.

Hehe, seeing it is cool but I could never do it. Plus in matches nobody ever did it anyway. They're SOOOOOO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I guess if they were stuned or dazed or something but sheesh. Oh well.Triton wrote:and ya some of the stuff is flashy, like crescent-spin-crescent, seeing someone combo 4 or 5 of those in a row is very cool tho!
Oh well. If I had to go back, I'd finish TKD for sure. Just got bored with the beltmill. :/ At some point in there, being able to defend yourself went completely to the wayside... $$$$$$$$

High jumping spinning kicks work in a perfect world where your opponents are dumb, slow, and probably blind. Actually, they are probably dead too.
