Guild Wars
I just bought Guild Wars today; I installed it, started the game, made my character, and now that I try to play, it's taking forever to load Ascalon City.
If anybody has this game, can you tell me if:
(1)This is normal?
(2)If so, is this a one-time thing?

Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

I refuse to get involved in this argument. This argument will only lead to pain and missery.
I refuse to involve myself in such a fight...

i play[ed] guild wars, wow, everquest, hellgate london, and a few other games of the like.
all have thier pros and cons. honestly i think the subscription games are better maintained and offer less lag but in the end for me if im going to continue paying for the game it better be worth it and so far only wow has made it more then a few months of paying. but as for the non sub games hellgate london and guild wars top my list.
currently the only online games that i can afford the time to play are wow and hellgate london (and my favs of the pay and non pay games).

In that case, good news! Guild Wars doesn't have any.ZN13 wrote:I like Guild Wars; In fact, I think it's probably better than WoW. Even though I've never played it. And probably never will, since I'm not a fan of monthly subscription fees.
I have been meaning to get into Guild Wars, due to the fact that I love WoW but think that its PvP in is severly unbalanced in every form (I'm not sure how I even begin to explain what I mean by this), an issue that occurs to me as being eliminated by a number of gameplay features within GW. Well, that and the fact that in the realm of MMOs, GW is essentially free. If I get into it, will anyone show me around? If someone starts up a BenHeck guild, I am so in there.
P. S. - Teraflop, nothing on God's green earth would ever compel me to play an MMO run by Sony Online. Although that unfortunately means no Matrix for me, it does mean that I'm sparing myself the forced repetition nightmare that was Everquest, one which I read about time and time again and saw via my friends. Those horrors aside, one session of that horrible, horrible game and knowledge of Sony's "returning user" concept (and policy) was all it took for me to swear off anything with in which Sony Online was involved forever (the exception(s) being PlanetSide and possibly The Agency; it depends on how the feedback is for the latter when it's released).
Edit: Yeesh, poor retarded me. I didn't notice that ZN13 was the topic starter and therefore obviously wasn't referring to GW when he was commenting about disliking subscription fees. Durr.

So... have you actually- you know- PLAYED Everquest 2?... *Recently*?
I couldn't figure out what the heck I was doing in Everquest, so I only played a week or so, and Everquest 2 was a terrible abortion of a game *when it first came out.* Graphics were great (at the time), but the game forced you to waste your time on- well, it was just silly. I'll leave it at that.
Over three years and three awesome expansions have passed since then.
I suggest you try EQ2 today, rather than shun all Sony software based on what you've only read about EQ, a rusty old MMO created eight years ago.
