Laptop Screen? DC Not reading games. DC laptop.

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Laptop Screen? DC Not reading games. DC laptop.

Post by typamc95 »

I have a laptop screen of a old Toshiba satalite, is it possible to convert the wire to vga?

My dreamcast was left in a closet far a month. At first, it would not boot { just the logo} But when i finally got it to boot, it would not even try to read music /games... any Ideas?
This all for my upcoming DC laptop.

How old is the screen? If it's around 1992 or near there maybe, but if its after 95 then nope :(

Did you take the dreamcast apart, and make sure the ribbon cable is nice and secure in the laser? Mine came lose before you should check it.

Good luck on the laptop. :D

In the heart of "Why pay for something when you already have it?" I was wondering if here are any mods about replacing the GD-Rom Drive with a laptop hard drive?

Also... Laptop still confusing me.... But the video card takes VGA output, that is a good sign, right?

Edit: Just a quick idea I had

I know that you can replace the gd-rom drive with a normal portable cd drive, but then it only reads backups. I have no idea about a laptop hard drive,

I've never tryed to do it, but I assume, that you just pop the old drive out and put the new one in. Search Google if that doesn't work.

because most, if not all Laptop screens have a digital signal input, that no console is capable of putting out, thus you would need to buy/build a controller for the screen, which would be more expensive than just buying a new one. Not to mention harder.

See my reply to his other thread bump: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?p=263759#263759

For Dreamcast, it is cheaper to get a LCD controller than a 10" screen that takes VGA, last I checked at least.

I don't know, about $50 total for a crap laptop and an LCD controller, or 10" screen for around $50 at a fleamarket. I'd go with the screen just for the lack of inconvenience, then again the laptop keyboard can be easily hardwired and you could reuse the laptop case. I guess it is a matter of what you are going to do.
