Well I have a Vista, and when I open the file all that happens is i see the outline of the window for .5 seconds then nothing, doesn't show it on task manager or anything. I've also tried with xp compatibility mode and it does the same thing. So does anyone know if Vista just won't work with it?
Oh and when i tried the first time it said it was missing a .dll which i got off the web tho.
Thanks
GTP Work with Vista?

First Vista is not backwards compatible with XP. So any software that runs on XP needs a patch in order to work on Vista.
Second if you want to try to make it work again, try using the "run as Administrator" option.
Third as above mentioned the beta (or is it alpha) version of the game is written for XP.

Do you have an XP install CD? If so, go to Microsoft's website and download Virtual PC 2007. You can make a virtual XP machine to install and run things on. (I use it as a convenient sandbox web server.)
Don't worry about it. The PC version was dropped a long time ago (the "alpha" isn't as much a game as it is a tech demo sorry marshall), and the project's been canceled. All you're missing is an actually-kind-of-cool street and hill simulation where you control a camera with no clipping.

When I ran Vista, it ran every game and program that didn't have a patch available. The only problem you'll have with Vista and software is if the software deals with direct memory editing and/or kernel debugging, and that's 2% of the software.

I find that hard to believe as Microsoft themselves said Vista is not backwards compatible, that I had to use two patches to get Visual Studio 2005 installed, and a friend tried installing Nero 6 on a Vista machine and found it just wouldn't work. If you've been able to get programs working without having to patch them, or make any alterations then you're just lucky.Skyone wrote:?!?!Sparkfist wrote:First Vista is not backwards compatible with XP.
