I have BioShock in my hand at this very moment!Twisted Warthog wrote:Hey Jones i saw you playing the Demo sometime yesterday!![]()
Tell me about it, i had my jaw wide open the whole time i played the demo. I have to buy that game now. Do you think stores will still have them in stock?
Now I just have to make it through another hour and a half of work so I can go home and let the addiction begin.
Ben said there were only a couple of copies left at Circuit City when he picked our copies up and that there was some other dude there picking it up for 360 as well. This was shortly after CC opened so this game could be hard to come by until supplies are replenished over the weekend.
I don't know if they have Circuit City stores by you, but they are selling it for $50 US instead of the usual $60 US that every other place is selling it for. So if you can, pick it up there.
"Welcome to Rapture!"

Really? Aside from having a P4 that's a fifteenth less beefier then your's, my computer is almost identical, yet the demo gives me a hard time if I don't run the graphics at "low".XPCportables wrote:I love this game! I can max out all of the special effects, and medium on textures, at 1024x768, silky smooth on my PC. I can't believe it. I am only running a OCed 128mb vanilla Geforce 6800 and a 2.4 GHz P4. I love Irrational games. Just a bit longer before I actually own this game!
Here's hoping Crysis is so kind to me.

I'm playing mine at 1920x1200 with full graphics. Getting about 30 FPS... like a 360... so basically I have a $1500 PC so I can use mouse/keyboard
Specs:
Core 2 Duo 2.4 gig
4 gigs RAM
Nvidia 8600
DX10
So unless you PC is bleeding edge, go 360. Though if you've spent the money on a PC the $10 you'll save on the game itself might come in handy.
Still, it's an amazing game that I'm sure I'll be playing late into the night. It's like a horror movie / shooter / Metropolis / awesome.
The game can also run in DX9 mode, natch, but it actually had significantly less FPS when I tried.
PS: I guess there's some major spoilers and twists in this game, so PLEASE don't anyone ruin it for anyone on MY forums. I'm still mad about knowing the gag for Sixth Sense before seeing it.

Did you get the latest Nvidia drivers? They make a world of difference. The game doesn't run perfectly, I get some tolerable lag in certain areas with lots of NPCs, but I am running on a one month fresh reformat as well. Do you have Vsync turned off, I do and I promise that if you don't, that is most likely your problem. If this is an example of how well the unreal 3 engine runs on 6 series cards, my PC might have a little bit more life in it still.Ecksem Diem wrote:Really? Haha, yeah, the game just had pixalated boxes where the text should go on the menus before I updated my drivers. I haven't tried your vertical sync idea, though; I think I'll go do that now.XPCportables wrote:Did you get the latest Nvidia drivers? They make a world of difference. And Ben, as for your suggestion, I'm afraid that I too am a stickler for a mouse/keyboard setup as far as FPSs are concerned. That's something I liked about the Dreamcast; a good number of the FPSs for it let you use the mouse and keyboard peripherals to play them. Interestingly, though, I tend to prefer a controller for third person games that handle similar to FPSs, like Lost Planet or Gears of War. Nevertheless, I intend to pick up GoW for the PC this Xmas... It looks like they made some pretty b*tchin' upgrades to it (and I always have a PC controller if I want to use a gamepad that badly).
P. S. - XPC, that GIF in your sig is freaking awesome.
Edit: Holy crap, that v sync thing worked! Thank you, kind sir.
What does that even mean?Dr. KillGood wrote:FAIL AND AIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aside from stopping over and over again to look around and poke stuff, I found that the game did a very nice job of making me inch past corners and things blocking my view. Damn good stuff.vomitsaw wrote:Not terribly far just yet (partly because I keep stopping to look at/poke everything I see), but oh my GOD, this game is art.[/size]
On an unrelated note, does anyone know how to unlock hard mode in the PC demo? There didn't seem to be an option to alter the difficulty in the configuration file.
