my portable PS2slim laptop project

this will be my first project of this kind. i am trying to make a simple and functional portable ps2 laptop.

here what i have done so far and what i have planed



after my unsuccessful attempt with a portable dvd player screen, and a lesson learned the hard way in digital and analog signals. i ordered a 7in lcd w/ a controller from aeicomp.

i am ready to desolder the composite input socket and wire directly from the ps2 mother board to it. i am not planing to remove the a/v socket on the ps2, hoping that i can still plug in a tv when not using the lcd.



ive desolder the power socket, and did a pretty crappy soldering job (the holes were big i couldn't really do much else) with some IDE cable. im hoping these wires are okay and the soldering job will suffice.



there are 3 of these sensors that sense when the ps2 disc cover is open. without the standard ps2 case they will always be on so i am planing to glue them down permanently with some plastic cement.

as for the case im planning to make a simple case with wood. i have no knowledge of cnc routing and such.

currently i have no idea about what to do for power.

Nice to see someone else making one of these. Simply enough, I suggest you use thicker wire for powering connections, that's the most thin wire I've ever seen used.

Also insulated wire I think would be better. Less of a chance of something shorting out if it's jarred or bumped.

Thin power connections will destroy you. Even if they can get the unit turned on, they will not be able to provide enough power for any serious amount of time.
