PSP question.

Post by Mikeyman64 »

I have been hearing a few things about certain models of the PSP being better than others. Is there a significant difference between them? And if so, which one would be better to get if I'm NOT planning on hacking it.

And why the heck are these PSPs going for so much? Link1 Link2

All right, from the top. The difference from the newer PSP's isn't substantial. Basically, there was a new LCD (not all that sharper from what I saw), and a fourth level of brightness, which was quickly named the Battery Eater, becuase, that's all it did. That's really all with the 'updates', hardware wise. There were other things like small motherboard changes, most that only tried to stop homebrew, but in the end didn't do anything better. And there were just the petty upgrades, like the "Square" button being less close to the LCD and better D-Pad (one that sticks less). Really all not that cool upgrades. And I'm not sure about those two auctions but I think they're 'gags', like mystery bags.

Because people are stupid and do fake bids or mess up when typing. Do you mean you won't do homebrew? Because the PSP sucks without homebrew.

I just wanted to know what the differences were other than moddability.

Ok, if you want homebrew you get a 1.5 version psp or a 2.0 and downgrade it. Regarding to the 'sharper' screen, there are Sharp [brand] screens in Japanese psp's which are considered to be better than the Samsung ones in the other markets but I cannot tell the difference between my Japanese ones screen and my UK one. [The Japanese one I got for homebrew apps and running my backups off memory devices] The Japanese psp box model number is PSP-1000 and there are guides online which tell you how to know what version you are buying by looking at the box but if you want a 2.0 or 1.5 you WILL have to get them used or sold as new on eBay or something.
I can't cut the portable junk, I am not worthy!!!

And, as I waited for the PS3 I cracked a whole year before it came out and got a Xbox 360, it was the wiser choice.

:wtf: You just need a firmware 3.50 or below. Virtually any PSP.
