N64p #2 worklog

Hokay! So. Its been awhile since I've posted..

I have another worklog around here somewhere... But I tore that one apart haha. The case came out pretty bad, wiring wasn't too great either. Soooo.. I'm building another, its coming a lot better.

This one will be in an NES case.. What can I say I like frankencases..

The original power button is going to be the power switch, and I'm also gonna wire up the power led.

I've relocated the memory card slot on my controller, it will be on the side of the case. I'm waiting for my header pins to arrive right now, and I'm working on other stuff...

Pretty standard, led modded psone screen, I'm gonna have a fan on it as well as heatsinks on the mobo, etc.

Errggg... Issues.

The n64 seems to power on fine (led comes on...) But it refuses to output composite.. I had a wire going from pin 1 on slot two of the psone lcd, to pin 9 on the av port of the 64... Sooo.. What the heck. I dunno. Any ideas anyone?

In the meantime I wanted to do the rgb mod.. Serial number is nuc-0001.. Should work right?

Might have fried. N64's sometimes just do.

It could have... But I don't understand why the led would still be coming on...? Hmm, ill try the rgb and then we will see.

Just a thought - I presume as well as connecting the composite line, you also connected a ground too? (or you won't get a signal), eg to pin 4 on slot 2 of the PSone?

So I put a wire from pin 4 on slot two, to my ground, then a wire from pin one on slot two (composite in) to pin nine on the 64 (composite out).

Nothing. I thinki know why though.. I'm running my 64 and screen off different power supplies, therefore the grounds aren't connected.... I'm going to go get a 7808 today and wire my screen in with the 64. Should fix it I hope..

Pin 5 and pin 6 on the N64 mobo are ground. Pin 9 is the 5v line!

N64 - pin 9 to pin 1, slot 2 on the PSone
N64 - pin 5 or 6 to pin 4, slot 2 on the PSone

Should be fine.

Wait, I'm lost.. 5 & 6 on the power connector? *thinks* I had it wired as pin nine on 64 to pin one slot two on psone screen, then the ground was tied to the ground connecting to my power connector pins, don't remember which.. *thinks* I had that correct though because it powered on. Just don't remember which pins off the top off my head. Should I have it connected to ground on the a/v out? Hahah... I'm sorry, I really appreciate the help, thankyou so much.

EDIT: looked up A/V out pinout, 5 and 6 are ground, thankyou so much! Will do that first thing in the morning and have some pics up, Bacteria you are awesome.

3 and 6 are positives on power connector.. Jeez I'm tired hahah.

BTW, have a look at my N64p project, you might find it interesting. Also, the RGB connections is my next part of project, will do it tomorrow....

Well the power led is tied directly to power (I think) And frying won't affect power avaible.

Smile: thanks, if it is tied directly to power like that then that could happen, good point.
