When it's my birthday I may save up the money to buy a gamecube and tear it apart to make it portable, that and a gba player, and maybe a gamecube screen. If I do, I'll post it here, but my birthday is in August.

Cool I'll try to download it overnight. It's really hard to download large files when you have a 28.8 kb dial up :(

But that'd take time and I don't feel like doing it (although I guess I might)
Whenever I get around to it it'll be at http://doomportables.freeserverhost.net/GCp.avi

That is pure gaming perfection, my friend. That video had me drooling like a ravenous wolf. I have got to make one of them!

How long have you gotten the battery life to run for. I remember you wrote something about 2.5 hours, which is fine, but have you been able to get more out of it? Can you plug an AC adapter into it to play?

I can't wait to tackle this project. I look forward to the tutorial. If your walkthrough is able to take a noob like myself through each of the steps I'd be eternally grateful. I'm already looking into classes at Home Depot to learn the basics of electrical and soldering, so I can understand the stuff about powering the unit and wiring the inards.

Again, absolutely amazing job!
thanks :D!!!! as for the battery life: right now, it's only an hour and 10 minutes, as there's only one battery pack in it :(. I did find a nice big 12v @ 7Ah sealed lead-acid rechargeable battery I can use as an external battery pack, though :). also, I can just use AC power :).

I'll probably finish my N64p4, start and finish my Sega Nomad SP, and I'm also gonna work on a super-secret new portable :)....don't bother guessing, though, 'cause I'll never tell !!!!!!!!
oh yeah, and as for the Revolution....if it's small enough, I'm most likely gonna try and portablize it :) (as long as it's not around $300 when it comes out, though....)
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

If you change the type of battery you're using can you bump that usage time up? I don't recall which battery you settled on using.

I used li-poly batteries, which are for the most oart better than most other battery types.....
*note: the reason I could only have one battery pack in my GCp is because when I cut the holes for the memory card slots, I cut them too far off to the s9de, which meant I had to have the GC board a little off to one side as well. that meant that there was enough space on one side of the case for batteries but on the other side there wasn't enough space.

*another note: I have just recently scome down with a fever (possibly the flu), so if I sound a bit, er, dull, youl'l know why....

From the earlier posts it sounded like the Li-poly batteries were the way to go, but I wasn't sure if the play time would improve if you were able to work a different voltage/amp battery.

I hope you feel better. Get some rest (while playing your super cool new GCp). By the way I'm showing a few of my friends who'd be interested in such a device and they are all floored by how cool it is as well.
