I'm 14. I started working with electronics at a very young age (can't even remember!) with one of those Radio Shack electronic kits. You know, those ones with the spring terminals? I also learned VB, which started my programming experience. I always loved video games, and I think that the first ones that I played were Commander Keen, and Doom on the PC. Ah, good times. :)

I became really interested with the electronics inside video game systems at around 10 or 11, and would "disect", if you will, all of my video game systems and other electronic things. At around 13, I joined these forums. After a failed attempt at an N64p, I turned to making a video game system, which was named "Blackbox" (kind of a big jump, but I think it was worth it for what I learned). There were a few prototypes that didn't work too well, but when I got to version 0.21 I knew I was getting somewhere. It's still a WIP, but this summer I'm going to pick it up again, and finish Version 1.0. Then i'm going to sell it in some form to the members here. If you want any more info about it, you can search for it and quite a few threads will come up. PM me if you want to as well.

Bacteria your 41, I thought I was the oldest at 38. Like I said Im 38, Im married, I have 3 kids ( 3 boys ages 11,14,17) I've started coming to benheck when he first made his first atari portable. Like everyone else I learned a lot from here. It looks like the average age here is about 17 years old. I just wished all of this was avalible when I was younger. But o'well all I have to say is be on the look out for 5 new portables, yes 5 new ones. Some have been done already and a couple haven't.....

*sigh* I'm 12, turning thirteen in December (late birthday  )
I'm probably the youngest person here.

I went to the library one day and got Ben's book without even realising who he was. I thought it was intresting, but back then I never had the guts to do it. Then Toilet Paper dragged me onto the forums and here I am! I live in Western Australia and while I was in Grade 7 I was awarded "Best in the State" for WA at Computer Skills. I got a big, chunky medal that has my name engraved on it! :P

No, creepy would have been if I asked where you live, ie street number...!

dkap01 - what are the portables of?

I bought Ben's book, not done much reading in it yet, probably because I was really interested in doing an N64, and there is no such section in his book (so I am researching from these forums at the moment). I will get around to reading it more in due course.

dkap01 - I too am married, for nearly 11 years now, no kids - also no mortgage or debts! :D My Father used to like consules when I was a lad and "had to get it when it came out" - so I had access to Pong (mid 1970's), Intellivision, Atari (first one); I bought Vectrex, GBA, Megadrive, N64, Gamecube, GP2x over the years. First arcade game I played and fell in love with at the time was Asteroids (with its thumping bass), then Star Wars and Galaga (hey it was about 25 years ago or so!). I love console games (not Playstation or Xbox!) and therefore emulation. Only consoles I want to do mods for is GBA (done it - can also do NES games too, which is a bonus) and N64 (love several games on it). At our age, you can afford to buy projects without asking anyone first (apart from the misses!!).

So, am I officially the "oldest git" on this forum??

I'm 15. Lurked on this forum quite a bit in 2004 and then finnally joined in 2005. I've been here quite a lot longer than most here but I don't post much. I like retro consoles, electronics and cooking (GASP!). I have two arcade machines and a lot of consoles! Thats about it.
Meh... So I don't post much?

I am 17 years old, as of May 2. My iPod is 3 years old, as of June 6.

I found the forum after I read about Ben's stuff online and bought the book.
