To me, this thing sounds like a GP32 with an SD slot. The price will make or break this thing. The now-defunct Gamepark was going to release its much slicker XGP Kids that has nearly identical hardware specs for only $75, and they had proof of what it could pull off. I'd say around the same price point as that, it'd be a worthwhile purchase to someone just getting their foot through the door for portable emulation, but for a hardcore, GP2x/PSP/DS owning vet, there's no reason to buy this thing.

I've seen similar devices being sold at Gamestop before. I once saw a GBC flash cart there.

great, expired copyright...Kurt_ wrote:No, this is how it is legal:
By limiting the system's power, you limit the Roms it can run. It runs roms with expired copyrights, and the rest you homebrew onto it are illegal!
95 years after publication or 120 years after creation. (link) Not a lot of software falls into that does it?
I'd be surprised if the price is that low. LCD screens are sill expensive, and that makes up majority of the price. If it is under $100 that would be a damn good buy.Dr. KillGood wrote:If it can emulate GB games and SNES games I would consider getting it, although I would not pay any more than $50-75 for it.
As for copyright expirations. We will have access to games sooner then another 65 years down the road. As much as I hate the DMCA it does leave an opening, well small. The DS is the only system that sill uses cartridges and so if a system that uses said media is no longer supported you can move the games to roms. Just have to be careful of the counter of copyright infringement.
Though when it comes to copyright infringement I always fall back on "fair use" and that's what I'll stick with if I'm ever taken to court over copyright infringement.

Makes ya wonder what the copyright office thinks about "Fair Use"...Sparkfist wrote:Though when it comes to copyright infringement I always fall back on "fair use" and that's what I'll stick with if I'm ever taken to court over copyright infringement.

If its over roms that are on a portable device, pop out the card, snap it in half, and theres not evidence!
This device would have to cost ~$75 or less in order to sell, especially to people like us who likely have a PSP/DS/GP2x they run homebrew and emulators on. I personally like landscape layout over portrait, another reason I wouldn't want one.
Is this the gaming product you were talking about, Ben?
