PS2 Controller Mod for GH | 56K warning? I don't know. O.O

Post by Ramon »

Hey, guys. I worked on a PS2 controller mod for a few days now. It's a regular controller turned into a GH controller! :D There are some flaws with the controller like the whammy bar. It's sort of impossible to use now, unless you have 3 arms. And that's because when you do a long note, you have to press both fret button(s) and the strum button. But nonetheless, it works! :D

Here are a few photos. So sorry that I wasn't able to take a photo of me using it. It's kind of hard. Especially if no one's helping you. >_> Anyway, here!

The whole guitar and it's awesome crapiness.

The fret buttons. You'll see a close-up later.

The strum, whammy and my own little button controller. The whammy is sucky right now but I'll fix it later. The button controller is for controlling (well, duh) the first button because if you use a regular controller, Green = X and L2. But then the orange button is X, too! (gasp) So what do you do? Control the buttons.

Image
The strum buttons. The top buttons are the strum itself. The bottom buttons are D-Pad Up and D-Pad Down.

Image
The close-up of the sucky fret buttons. I'll make real buttons later.

Image
The sucky strap connection. Yes, that is tape you see.

A real GH controller in comparison with my GH control. Mine's smaller and much more painful. :)

Yes. I know. I have to do more work with it, but I don't want to! I'm tired. Maybe later. Hey, at least it works! I'm still going to design a tilt sensor, since there are none available here.

So what do you guys think? Comments, suggestions, violent reactions, all are welcome!

I'm pretty sure you could mod the controller to work like an actual guitar. And I mean PRETTY sure.

But I believe it only involves grounding a button!

Edit: w8 did you use my NAND/AND gate aproach? Or did you wire the buttons in series? (same effect basicly)
