I love a healthy load of BS in the morning. Tossing server parts into a computer and calling it a Gaming machine are signs of ignorance. Adding CPU speeds together drives the nail home. At least there isn't any SLI with graphics memory added together.
I'd rather buy a tried and tested computer from Dell than this load of marketting crap from a dolt with 48 feedback. Either that or build a Real gaming computer and save some money.
wouldn't mind having one of these

As far as I can tell none of it is Dell, he says the case is a "NZXT Zero Series case" and he's called it a "XPS 800" himselfMrTroy wrote:Wow... SO I just got finished searching for more info on a Dell XPS 800. I don't think they exist. Did this guy just get an XPS shell and build a computer inside of it?
Cause this definitely isnt a dell rep.

And? Is there some point to the fact that you think a high-end Dell probably pisses all over whatever computer I may have? How does my potentially having less of a computer than the one being discussed take away from my thoughts on Dell products? How does you baselessly calling me ignorant (since you clearly assumed that I based my opinion that "a cat turd's still a cat turd" in regards to Dells on absolutely nothing) add to your argument?Rekarp wrote:if that isn't the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Just because it has a "dell" sticker on it doesn't automatically label it a horrible computer. I betcha that PC will beat the crap out of what ever you may possibly have.
I ask the same of you: how do you know that I'm basing my opinion of Dells on insufficient experience with them/knowledge of them? Also, I hardly see how them acquiring Alienware and continuing to put super cool Alienware stuff out is a reflection on Dell, unless they fired everyone at Alienware and replaced them with Dell Dudes. As for them being the most prominent machines in corporate deployments (heh, I like that phrasing), well, that's because corporations are cheapskates... Including mine, unfortunately.bicostp wrote:Yeah, maybe ten years ago. They conform to ATX standards now.
Besides, not all Dells suck. They do own Alienware... And Dell PCs (Mostly the OptiPlex line) are the most prominent machines in corporate deployments. (Every computer at my college is a leased OptiPlex GX620, for example.)
They may not run your big fancy games that doesn't mean they're terrible computers. Please do a little research before you spout ignorant comments.
Besides that's not even a real Dell.
For the record, pretty much every Dell I've ever had to deal with for any period of time (there's been far too many) has had far more problems than any other economy machine I've used, whether it be old, new, or somewhere in between, or be it at home, at school, or at work. I will concede that most of my experiences with Dells have been on low-end machines, so it's quite possible that I'd have less problems on more expensive models. All that said, looking through that auction again, there seems to be nothing actually Dell-related about the computer... But I'm with teraflop on this, build a real gaming computer as opposed to that Frankenstein and save some money.
Edit:
... Cool...timmeh87 wrote: incidentally, have you ever heard of Intel's 'V8' thingy? dual quad cores.
