NESP by the book

Post by chanticlair281 »

I have completly finished wiring my nesp by the book but I can not get it to work. I think the first problem lies in the 7805 on the right (D) board. The book says to put the power on the far right side of the 7805 or the 5volt out leg of the 7805. This did not make sense to me but if Ben says so... then while troubleshooting I noticed that I am only getting 3-4 volts out of the middle (Ground) leg of the 7805. The book says that I should be getting closer to 7.5 volts. I tested the voltage on the far left one (postive in) and it is getting about 9 volts. All of this is looking at the solder side of the board. Any clue what is going wrong?

i'm pretty sure you have something mixed up.

the leg on the right is the +5 volt output and the middle is groundyou want the 5 volts going into the NES
did this clarify anything because i cant really understand what you want right now

I am looking at figure 7-24 in the book. it shows 7.5 volts coming off the center leg of the 7805 just before the 1uf cap. I shows unregulated power from battery terminal to leg that is normally 5volts out. and conneted to the .1uf capacitor. I have it hooked this way but I do not have 7.5 volts going to the screen from the center leg. it is more like 3.

9.6 from Radio Shack. I tested the voltage coming from it and it is about 10v.

Ahh easy problem. Its not a 7805 but a LM317T Regulator.

It appears that this solved my power problem. Now I am getting the screen to power on and I am getting 5volts to my NES. Now I just need to troubleshoot why I am getting no picture!
