Where can I find a Motorola 68010?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Where can I find a Motorola 68010?

Post by Jongamer »

I've been wanting to get ahold of one of these for a while now, but no sites but ebay and Amazon sell them, but those choices are out of the question.
What Electronics can I find a Motorola 68010 (one with 64 pins) (68pin)

What Devices would I find these cpus in? Google let me down.

I see these turn up on eBay for cheap frequently but you need to be vigilant. Be forewarned that a MegaDrive/Genesis with a 68010 installed will be compatible with a much smaller percentage of games than will an overclocked MD at ~10-11 MHz which will provide similar performance benefit. The 68010 architectural improvements will improve some things like PCM sound reproduction but as far as raw speed a small overclock to a built-in Motorola or Hitachi 68000 part will do about the same. 68010 upgrades are a good drop-in replacement for, as I call them, 'Revision 0' boards with Signetics clone 68000 processors and GLU chips that respond poorly to even minor overclocking.

Just my inflation-adjusted 2.4 cents.

I don't really care about Game compatibility, I mean I OCed my genny, but was unsatisfied, because Fragmented Sprites are the last thing I want in a video game, and I find these Genesis sytems all the time at goodwill for $5, so I have no worrys on not being able to play games I want.

The "fragmented graphics" are just due to too high of a clock rate. Let me guess, Genesis 2? :P eBay in this case is the most worthy, seeing as any parts provider will sell it for an arm and a leg.

What frequency were you using? Even MD2 systems will usually run with near-100% stability, with perfect graphical and audio performance at 9 to 11 Mhz.
