How to....

Post by Mageslayer »

First off, I wasn't sure if this was important enough to go in technical Q&A so I put it here. Better safe than sorry. I'm concerned with my privacy over the internet and I was wondering if there was any way to do the followng:

I don't want anyone to be able to track my ip in any way. I want to be able to use the Firefox, Limewire, uTorrent, whatever (though I won't ever use Limewire again..... eew.) without anyone (especially the cable company) knowing it's coming from my ip address. I'm not trying to pirate, I'm just "concerned about my privacy over the internet," ya know?

Just making sure, but will those prevent even my internet service provider from seeing what was done on this ip?

Try a web proxy. Google it.

That, my friend, is impossible.

The ISP could still find out what you're doing by looking at your packets, I think uTorrent has an option to encrypt the packets, if an ISP has blocked BitTorrent packets

Well for chat and direct file swapping (IE between you and people you already know) you could use something like W.A.S.T.E. I guess, but that's a bit of a hassle to set up and use.
