screen distortion due to audio

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

9.6v packs have EIGHT batteries. The PSOne screen's voltage limit appears to be 9v, but a fully charged "9.6v" pack actually has a voltage of around 11v.
If all else fails, take it apart!

Okay, first off 6 AA alkalines is NOT too much voltage for the screen, because that's only 9 volts. I run my SNESp off of 9 volts all the time with my adapter (it's one of those variable voltage adapters from RadioShack so it gives a steady 9 volts DC). It does just fine and I play it all the time.

My first SNESp was originally powered with 6 AA batteries that were the 2500 mAh Energizer rechargeables. I could only get about an hour's worth of play before I got the same screen distortion due to audio. Same story for alkalines. I've since decided to not go with AA's anymore, and will only stick with 7.2 volt RC car batteries or lithium ions.

That really irked me back when I learned for myself that AA's will just not give enough run time before the sound makes the screen shake. With 2500 mAh I should have had enough for four hours of gameplay.

They can't handle the high drain, for lower draw applications they last better.
