I need money quick! My brother got cell phones a few months back, one for me and one for him because someone shot my tire out last fall. My brother lost his job awhile back (because he is lazy), and couldn't pay the bill. He said he would have it covered. But he never got another job. Now the bill is $1000, mainly because he made so many long distance calls and bought so much stuff like ring tones.
The bill is in MY name now and I have to take care of this. I'm doing the best I can for not having a job, but I need help. They want it all by May 13th or else I'm going to court and possibly to jail to work off my debt.
Please Help me. I wouldn't make it in jail. I'm to pretty!

Are the phones on seperate bills, or was it a "family plan" deal? Either way you shouldn't have to pay for it just because he's a lazy deadbeat.
The best thing I can think of is to take out a bank loan for the balance, so you can pay it off over time. Of course you're going to wind up paying off interest, but as long as you DON'T pay the minimum every month it shouldn't be too bad. At least the bank won't drag your butt to court right away because you owe them money.
You have no case against the phone comany, since the debt is in your name, but if you can prove through hard copies that your brother indeed did accumulate the debt you might be able to take him to small claims court for his share of the balance.
If this was a family plan, then you're probably screwed.
This is why I like prepaid phones.
