Battery operated amplifier

As much fun as it can be to have a party on the beach, it won't be fun without some music. That's why I'm trying to build my own amplifier to use on the beach. And because there's no power plugs on the beach it's going to have to be battery powered.

Now here's where the problem lays. I can't find a decent amplifier (at least 30W L and R) with voltage lower then 16V. What I need would have to be 12V maximum.

Does anyone have a circuit suited for my needs?

What about the radio from a car? They have at least 30w per channel, just get one with an aux input if you want to play ipods or similar on it and it has the FM reciever and CD player built-in (usually).

car amps run off 12v i believe

Yeah I know, but I think they have a pretty high amp rating

Cheap car amps have 15w/channel, up to 21w/channel.

They're also designed to not draw a ton of power, since some people sit in the car with the key on ACC to listen to music (and don't completely drain their batteries).

If you can deal with 15w/channel, get a T-Amp.

I agree, a car amp will suit your needs. You could always power it off a lead-acid lawn tractor or motorcycle battery. (If you have a decent battery charger)
