My dell laptop works wonderfully, because I treated it like a desktop (putting craploads of files and programs on it) and then my batter life is slowly going away. But other than that, nothing bad. I would also say that my mothers dell desktop WAS great. I saw WAS because before I left I built a new one for her.
But if you have the option and knowhow, built it yourself. You would not only be saving money for the same thing, but then you know it is YOUR machine. Since you know its insides well then you can mod it very easily if you wanted to.

The computer shop called yesterday and they said it was bad video card!
I loved that thing....
It was a Nvidia Ge-force 64Mb Ti 4200 card, and even though it was not the greatest or newest anymore it still played Doom III and that was all needed.
Apparently the fan stopped working, possibly clogged with dust (Dells fault for not having good ventilation) even though I had cleaned it a month ago.
Anyway, now I need a new video card and I was hoping to buy an ATI radeon but there are so many different cards and I havent been keeping up on the newest, so could you guys reccomend a good one? I do know I dont want an Nvidia MX card I heard from several people they really sucked.

Radion 9600, if you have a good amount of ram (like 512+, DDr) then you can get a extra package of the All-in-wonder. Its aloues you to input tv, or other rf video, composite, S-video and will come with capture software. Its a nice line of cards if you want a multi-media center in you computer.

1 even though I dont have one, I would recomend the all-in-wonder
2 that one that sponge posted looks like the perfect replacement. Nice and cheap and lots of people like it.
EDIT: should read Gannon, not Sponge.

I do have a Power Color Radeon 9200SE. It may be kinda weak, but it still plays doom III (barely)
