Hidden NESp Done In 5HRS [56K Beware]

Post by KIWIDOGGIE »

I Have Finally Got to a point where i can share this. It is not done yet because there are no batterys. So i have to use a DC adapter.

I DID THIS IN 5 HOURS DREMEL'D SOLDERED AND RUNNING In 4h:52m:12s

Here is a similar case cause i dident take a pic b4 cutting.

This is a picture of the stelth case so it doesent even have NESp on the cover to give it away.

I did not use any tv like a intotec tv or a ps1 tv. There is a RCA tv that can take almost any input (even antena) and its cheap.

I used to have some batterys that wouldent hold a charge for about 30min but i threw them out 1 week before starting this.

If you notice there is a quiet 5V fan on there. That is because the TV needs 5v and so does the fan but the psu on the nes puts out 9-11vDc so i had to use a step down chip that needs a type of heatsink but i did not have a heatsink so i mounted a fan to a pc heatsink and then the chip to the heatsink. that heatsink does heat up even with the fan from 75F (starting) for 2 hrs of smb to 92F but it wasent murderly hot i could still touch it. Also the fan is very quiet. There is also a lot of space under the NES's Mainboard for batterys. So i will find a spare battery (i run traxxas) and mount them. :D  With No Game and case closed it weighs 1.92LBS :o :D  with game and controller it weighs 2.12LBS and with battery it will add 1.1LBS

Thanks for looking at my NESp. Find Some Videos And other Pics at my portables site.

P.S. It will not show for awhile

The real problem is that if you tried taking it on a plane you would most likely be arrested as it got scanned :? .

Well, as long as you open it up and show them what it does you should be okay... I assume. Just cover up the insides with some plastic or something so it's cleaner and it should look more like a game system and less like a home made bomb.

Interesting design...I'm still in two minds about this one...it kind of looks unfinished. But if you tidy up the wires, cover the exposed mobo etc I'm sure it'll look awesome. Top marks for effort too!

That case looks like it would make a decent laptop if you stuck in a modded C64 DTV, a good-size dedicated LCD module, and a small PS/2 keyboard.

Good job for such a quick build!

yea i need to work on that but i am busy Hense 5Hr project:P

i a, working on mounting it correctly and it does look unfinished. I am going to work on a cover and such but right now im low on time and money(devloping apps and games is hard especaly when u got 5 of em ur suppose to do at once)

I think i have a small size plexiglass from when i screwed up snapping it for the SEGAgenP i think i will put that there.
thanks for the comments any more

also what is the best way to mount the mobo cause it is mounted with hot glue right now and that keeps breaking

A fan will just interfere with the video/audio clarity and potentially cause instability. 92F, for a 7805 regulator heatsink, is very cool. Those things can run extremely hot and be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if they're rated past 100C.

They are, but having it going at 125C would turn your portable held together by hot glue into mush, thus the fan to prevent melt down.
Nice job, considering it was done in 5hr. Could use some improvement on the cosmetics, though. :P
