Wiivolution

Post by Monsterbox »

The first stage of Wiivolution has begun. I decided there weren't enough mods done to the Nintendo Wii (probably because they're so difficult to lay hands on), so I took it upon myself to give mine an overhaul, starting with a paintjob. There's a more detailed write-up over at my site, but here's the bones of it.

Contains Graphic Images of Console Disassembly
(Not for pregnant women, those with high blood pressure, the faint of heart or people who want a Wii but still can't find one at the store.)

That's pretty much all there is to it. Seven bucks worth of paint, one weekend, and a bit of determination and experimentation later and I'm the proud owner of a Hot Rod Red Nintendo Wii.

Let me know what you think.

(Next comes flames on the sides and a LED swap for the disc loader. )

Nice paintjob. You should paint some of it black though, then you would have that sweet black/red look. I love that look...

Everything looks great! but the nunchuck looks like crap in red, but the Wii-mote is fine, and the system look friggin awsome in red.

Sweet paint job, the white buttons look cool against the red.

What you should do is my fave wii related logo on it, know the Russian Hammer and Sickle flag, replace the hammer with a wiimote and the little star with the Mario stars. Got a pic of it somewhere, might post it up later

EDIT

Here it is

Nice job! It could be cool to paint the stand too, maybe black like Rellizate suggested.

The red is awesome with the white. Not to mention the red paintjob looks very smooth and even. Although the only problem i have is that the white is VERY glossy and the red is more of a plastic look. If you could find a glossy transparent coating and put it on, wow! A perfect red wii ;). I may try this if i can order a wii screwdriver... And a black or metallic silver stand would be awesome.

Well even if they are, two leads shouldn't be TOO difficult!

By the way, good job on the paint! Red's probably my favorite color of all time, and it suits the Wii well.

Red looks good, but now it's not glossy!!

Is there a such thing as glossy spray paint?

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.
