Oh yeah

Yes, Commodore will be releasing gaming PCs. Anyone as excited as me?

LOL, as long as they don't make horrible commercials (again) about teenager #1 telling teenager #2 how he's doing his homework on a Commodore!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but prebuilt gaming rigs have never been terribly popular with most PC gamers right? (I build mine out of cheap computer show/scrap parts so I wouldn't know)

I would way rather see them go back to their roots and release something akin to this to compete with Apple's Intel iMac's and Macmini's.

Meh. Every PC released is just an x86 box with a brand XYZ name slapped on, whether the cpu is tucked behind the LCD or underneath the keyboard. Using the Commodore name is just one more of many marketing decisions in the corporate world.

If I want a gaming PC I'll build it myself and save a couple hundred dollars.

Only way the Commodore brand PCs will make it is if they use mini towers (best to be like G3/G4 towers) or as small as Shuttles. Well I'm not a PC gamer per say (only play WoW), should I ever want to get into LAN parties something of that size and/or shape would be grand.

Also they will have to have the prices of these gaming rigs, well most of them not exceed $2000. I say that as if you're going to invest that much money you're either a retard or you're going to build your own rig. Both Alienware and VooDoo PCs have that problem, over pirced computers that are not even that great. The only service they offer is pre calibration of the system for the games you want to play on it, though that requires that you buy the games and have them install it... a problem if you already own it.

Truth is if Commodore is serious about getting into the PC gamer market, they have years of mistakes from others they can learn from. As long as they don't repeat too many they should do fine and stand out enough gamers to take note and maybe even by a rig.

Old days of a computer system being unique to the company is dead, even Apple has moved over to machines that are compatible with Windows/IBM standard. The Amiga is much like that, well I'm sure it would be cool to see the Amiga OS resurrected, that will not happen, too much money would be involved in software development, and chip design for something like an Amiga to be created or marketed.

I know it sucks, but we need standards, even Apple had to come to that conclusion. And of course it was because they used a different CPU which most software companies were not willing to port X86 code to, though superior it was, the market wouldn't change... feel angry blame Intel and Microsoft.

Well, I think it's neat. I'm not sure what they're going to have in it, but if they can price it accordingly to the components. If it's going to cost $100 more than my DIY I'll buy it.

I personally built my PC myself
E6300
ECS SLI 570
1.5GB Mushkin
ATI X800 ($50!)
But now a days it's not that too much cheaper to build your own.

Im the local amiga expert lol. there IS a current, modern Amiga OS, amigaOS4. unfortunatly it is limited to special hardware (a1200s and similar with blizzard PPC cards and the hard to find amigaONE computers) i desperatly wish that they would make it able to work on regular PPC hardware not custom crap and that they would eventually port it to x86. i blame the constant mishandling of the amiga brand by every company that has owned it, gone bankrupt and sold the brand to another crappy company.

dude that is sweet how much does it cost? and yeah i dont think any "hardcore" pc gamers buy prebuilt systems, but then again im sure theres plenty of fatass WoW fans who are too lazy too
