The little amp in there I suspect gets too much voltage.
You can bypass it and get stereo out of it at the same time, or just cut the power line to it and stick a resistor in between.
Careful when soldering to it though, these little suckers overheat pretty quick.
The PSG channel is lost though, I seem to remember it does everyhting on chip with the sound meaning just L/R output to the amp. Sorry.
