Best Anti Virus in my opinion. And its free.
 That piece missed half the stuff on my friend's computer. The java based scan Trend Micro offers caught more.

And about 7zip vs. WinRAR, I actually use WinRAR myself. I listed 7zip because it's free and doesn't nag you about buying it.

@Bay_Wolf: Why did you have to bring in grey-area programs? :P

From what I have seen it's only ok to make bit-for-bit copies, that is literally burning a dvd that is identical to the original, let's say with software or a standalone duplicator, but if you use a CSS decryption program and let's say make .avi on your HDD then that is illegal under the DMCA since you are circumventing the protection measures.

He must have had it turned off or never done an update. It catches more than Norton does. Also, don't you think Trend Micro's online scan will show you have viruses just to get you to buy there program? :?

When I build computers for people, this is the Anti-Virus program I choose to get the job done and it seems to have held up for the 3 or so years I have used it.

I am running Trend Micro's Housecall right now and ill tell you if any "viruses" come up

Seems no one has mentioned Hijack This!.
Good program to tell you what programs are running on your computer.

//edit Trend Micro picked up nothing unusual about my computer. Seems Anti-Vir does its job

well I think in my opinion that McAfee is the best for me, cause it picks up any recent changes to the registry wich helps a lot since you know if you added a new program or not, or just changed the regs. itself. And it's constantly up-to date. So your always protectd, and it even offers wireless security. So your wireless network cant be accesd by outsiders without your promission. Also, it even includes a firewall, a virusscan, parental controlls, and stuff like that. So you should get it, note I got mine for free. Get all of your programs for free with a p2p program, not limewire or bearshare, only use those if downloadng a single song, for recomended p2p program is bitlord. With it's unquiqe feature, it allows you to browse the web from the program itself, then you download a torrent file and you can open it up dirrectly, so that's what I use.

P2P Program:

www.bitlord.com - bitlord

McAfee:

www.McAfee.com - mcafee is a good protection tool for your pc
