PSX CD-ROM Drive Project

Post by A_Username »

I was thinking of replacing the CD-ROM Drive in my PSX or PSOne with the drive out of a portable CD player (maybe make a thinner portable) The drive seems to be a bit.....i dunno....quirky? None of the attepts found on the internet to fix it work. The data plugs on the end seem to be the same, but the power plugs seem to totally be different. I was wondering, if I traced the signals on the power plug, could I connect this drive.

Well, yea, I believe the Data transfer is the same (the ribbon cable)...for the power plug, just find out how much voltage is outputted from the jack on the mobo, and try and trace that up to the plug.

I guess not, but like I said, just get a multimeter and match it all up for the win!

I am thinking I am going to do the same thing for my device as you do.
