Gamecube screen LED mod

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Just wondering about LED mods and such, instead of two, could I hook up four (two on each end in series)? I want maximum brightness (I am in the sunlight a lot) and so would that help? If I do that could I also put in a switch to cut the current from the two extras when I am inside or something? Would this work?

If your talking about leds, yep. Just make sure the resistor value is adjusted properly.

A better idea would be a switch to change the resistance, so all 4 LEDs stay lit all the time, but at lower current when you don't need full brightness.

You could use a pot to make the brightness fully variable, but they don't like a lot of current, especially DC. To use a pot, it would be better to have the pot control a transistor and the transistor drive the LEDs, but I don't think you know how to do that.

I`ll ask my brother when I am back in the states, he is a EET or something like that. I am sure he would know.

I'd say a pot would be even better, then you can adjust the brightness over a wide range :)
