Post by NESBest »

so i have this usb recording interface for my computer, theres no power switch on it though(doesn't rele bother me) but my dad complains that its always on, whatever, anyways i was thinking if someone told me which wires gave the unit power i could splice a switch in there, any ideas of what to do?

On a USB cord, red is power, black is ground, and green and white are data. You could put a SPST switch on the red wire.

Why not unplug the unit when you don't need it?

The black wire would work too, and I would reccomend it over the red wire. That's just me though. Either one would be fine. :)

sometimes the metal shielding of the plug doubles as ground, in that case switching the black wire would have no effect.
