fc twin port

Post by ATOMICMAN »

yeah since the n64 got fried (not my fault, was sitting out testing and my friend touched the board ungrounded) im starting one of these.

got a case (like the playboy) http://www.polycase.com/item/zn-40.html

ordered an lcd http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1

and the fc twin http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1

the case is here already and the other two items are on the way.

this is going to get hacked up for my d-pad (its huge and easy to use) and buttons and for programable fun!

i got a digi camera now so ill post pics once everything gets here

the lcd should be here in a day or so. and the twin later this week or early next week.

i have to stop by one of my local game stores for that controller (it is actually my favorite part about this lol).

Mine should be coming soon too. As soon as I find a way to make my screen accept composite I'll start putting it together. Case is already being made out of alu :P

well small update. the guy who i bought the lcd from never sent it soooo i think im going to have to start a complaint to ebay and paypal cuz i havent heard anything in a week now and he never gave me a tracking number .

but for some good news, i got a wireless messiah snes controller so now my 2nd player will have wireless play. so its coming together slowly but i cant start hacking until i get a screen so i know what kind of space and cutting i need.

That must really suck. I'm still waiting for some stuff as well and the seller hasn't responded either.
I paid it at 30dec but it says the transit time is about 28 to 42 days. It's probably by boat but it's by USPS so I trust it.

Still the fact that I haven't got a response is bothering me.

today was a good day. took the day off from work and my lcd came!

couldnt get a shot of it in action (was all washed out in the light and i didnt check it until after i tore it apart) but believe me it actually has a really nice picture on it and it has nice audio and it gets pretty loud (as in more then you would ever need in a portable).

heres a shot of the top of my case (complete with my greasy thumb prints lol).

Image

heres a shot of the back of it.

Image

heres a shot of the lcd back (right after i opened that bad boy).

Image

heres a shot of the front of the lcd (after i removed the rest of the casing).

Image

heres a shot of the fc twin inside one of the case halves and the lcd below it for size comparision.

alright time for some side notes on the lcd.

you notice it has 3 small boards plus a very small one that has the av plug, power plug, and power switch. the screen itself is not widescreened like i originally though and saw advertized (bonus for me). this thing is tiny compared to the psone lcd.

i have to go find my soldering stuff tonight and maybe ill get some more pics up for you guys to look at.

*edit*

im scraping the sweet controller thing cuz there just isnt enough room for it =(.

That's the exact same LCD is used for my first N64p. It's pretty hard to LED mod because the lightbox is HUGE. You'll probably want to find an old PSone lightbox to use as a replacement.

i wont do anything with it as of yet, but yeah the light box is a little thick but right now its not that big of a deal. maybe down the road ill led mod it but ill prolly just make a new light box.

oh and what are your overall opinions of that lcd?
